Have you ever had a sudden hunch alerting you of something that was about to happen, and to your surprise, that intuition eventually translated into reality? I know you are probably nodding, as most of us have had experiences like this at times.
Intuition is a strong feeling about something that you have no logical explanation for nor previous knowledge of anything related to it. Some people call it “the sixth sense”, and it mainly comes through three channels, as we’ll soon learn.
Clairvoyance (clear vision) is when you see something but not directly with your eyes. In other words, you can “see” what is happening somewhere, and this somewhere is usually not in front of you. Since your eyes are not used for this kind of seeing, some call it seeing with “the third eye.”
Clairaudience (clear audio) is when you know something through your hearing or when you “listen” to something not clearly audible to others. By this I mean you don’t actually hear a voice or something specific, just that you perceive through your ears. This kind of intuition can also happen as a resulf of a feeling caused by a certain sound. Such is the case of a train passing by, a song or a bird chirping, that ushers in an intense feeling of “knowing” something.
Clairsentience (clear sensation) is basically what we refer to as having a “hunch” or a “gut feeling.” This is the time when you feel overwhelmed by a feeling and you can’t explain why you are feeling it. And even though we call it a gut feeling, it can be felt anywhere within the chest or abdominal area, like in your heart, for instance. All you can say is “I just know” with certainty. This kind of intuition, is the most common of all three.
As you probably noticed, two of these channels are related to our senses: seeing and hearing. The three other senses also play a part in intuition, namely clairscent (clear smelling), clairgustance (clear tasting), and clairtangency (clear touching) but to a much lesser degree. Also notice that the most common intuition channel has nothing to do with our senses. It is merely a strong feeling of knowing something.
Some say that only a few number of people are gifted with intuition. Astrologers even insist that people born under certain signs (mostly Scorpio and Pisces) are naturally intuitive, and that it almost borders on E.S.P. However, many studies about this indicate that we all are born with this ability and it’s just a matter of developing it or training ourselves to feel and use it.
And why would you want to master your intuition, you ask?
Master Your Intuition and Reap the Benefits
First and foremost, intuition promotes empathy because it makes you more receptive and sensitive to the people around you. It often keeps you from hurting your loved ones because you intuitively understand them and can discern what others feel. In other words, intuition helps you “read” people; something you can use to your advantage for better, more understanding and loving relationships.
For this reason, intuition also helps you develop good communication skills. When you intimately know the thoughts, likes and dislikes of those you care about, you are more inclined to communicate in a way that promotes love, understanding and well-being.
Another benefit of being intuitive is that it can enhance your creativity and express it in a variety of ways. Lastly, intuition has a healing power. This healing power can help you determmine the root of a health problem so you can address it properly. Metaphysically speaking, intuition can aid you in delving deep into your soul to find the negative energy that might be buried deep inside, and once it’s brought into awareness,, you can then work on eradicating it.
“The intellect has little to do on the road to discovery. There comes a leap in consciousness,
call it intuition or what you will, the solution comes to you and you don’t know how or why.”
~ Albert Einstein
Having said that, are you ready to learn how to master your intuition? Here are some ways to unlock and develop this natural gift:
Hypnosis is a powerful technique for developing your intuition. Recent studies show that hypnosis can increase intuition because it is easier to access the impressions of the subconscious mind and from that stance you can increase your self-confidence about your own abilities. Hypnosis helps you better you score at ESP tests and consequently at intuition. There are great self-hypnosis programs made specifically to strenghten your intuition.
Learn to Meditate
Meditation helps you find peace within yourself. If your mind and heart are cluttered with too many thoughts, hurts and baggage, it would be much harder to quiet down your mind to awaken your intuition. There are several meditation techniques, and some are easier than others. For instance, you can take a meditation course, a yoga class, or practice slow breathing. Any of these practices have the power to bring you straight to a Zen state.
When you practice positive thinking, more often than not you’ll live worry-free and fear-free. This relaxed state is the perfect starting point to work on your intuitive ability. Also, when you stay positive, you attract good energy. This will allow you to recognize certain feelings and occurrences.
Every time you have to make a decision, especially an important one, let go of all your distracting thoughts and clear your mind to be able to listen to your intuition. I suggest you go for a walk in a park or a beach (if you live by one) and focus on the birds chirping, the trees and flowers, or the waves coming and going. Once your mind is clear, ask yourself what the best course of action would be in whatever issue you have to decide. Then, just be quiet for a few moments and listen to your voice within. Do not get upset if the answer does not come right away.
You may want to try asking right before you go to sleep, but after you have meditated and become relaxed. Your subconscious mind will go to work for you as you sleep. Sometimes the answer will come in the middle of the night or as soon as you wake up.
Don’t Have Expectations
Once you let go of all your thoughts and troubles for the time being, just be open to whatever answer comes your way. Don’t interfere or judge, and certainly, do not expect an answer right away. Sometimes it happens, but more often than not, the “hunch” comes a few hours -or days- later. Give it a little time and before you know it — boom! — you’ll have the answer you’ve been waiting for.
Trust Your Gut!
First impressions are quite accurate for the most part. This is because they come from intuition. If you have ever felt a bit awkward about someone you just met, or you feel they are a bit arrogant even before they speak, know that it is your intuition at work. Trust your gut! It can save you many headaches in the long run.
Be happy 🙂
When you think about it, happiness is what you need to develop intuition. This is because when you are happy your mind is not clogged with problems or overwhelmed with tasks. This does not mean that happy people don’t have problems and obligations. It just means that they see the brighter side in most everything. Thus, one of the many benefits of happiness is that of speeding up the developing of your intuition. You’ll get to master your intuition by being open to “listening to your inner voice and feeling hunches” and as you focus on being happy most of the time.
Intuition is a wonderful tool. It can lead you to better relationships, great jobs, good health, and many more positive things. Many lives been saved by intuition alone. Master your intuition now and reap the benefits for life.
